Job Description

• To work with the director to create in-house sites for educational purposes.
• To integrate new plugins and learn and generate third party platforms and how they operate.
• To be seeking new knowledge and supporting the company to create new courses.
• Improve sites all the time and new ideas on new developments for the future.
• To manage current portfolio of company sites.

Roles and Responsibilities

Manage Front-End Development

• Design and build the front end of WordPress websites, which is what the user sees and interacts with.
• They design website layouts and add content, often using languages like HTML and CSS. 

Manage Back-End Development

• Back-end development is work that WordPress does on the server-side, which controls how the site works and encompasses changes and updates.
• Back-end work involves databases and servers, and developers work on features like structure, security, and content management.
• Write code in languages like PHP or .NET, which are compatible with databases.

Generate Plug-Ins and Themes

• WordPress utilizes themes and plug-ins, and the developer will work with code to create them.
• Themes manage the display and layout of a page and are usually available for purchase to WordPress users.
• Plug-ins are add-ons that add functionality and elements to WordPress pages.

Performance Monitoring

• Spend time monitoring WordPress web applications to make sure they are online, working correctly, and loading quickly.
• They respond to error codes and troubleshoot problems.

Participate in Team Meetings

• Conceptualise the Directors ideas to create new sites 

Conduct WordPress Client Training

After creating sites, train the team on how to use WordPress to manipulate the site, add content, and whatever else the client needs to know to make the most of their site.

Skills & Qualifications

• Website design – WordPress developers to use their design skills to optimize the user’s experience.

• They incorporate principles of design such as contrast, balance, and unity as a foundation for creating beautiful websites

• Programming – developers should constantly learn and improve their programming and development skills, and have a working knowledge of basic web technologies and the WordPress platform

• Knowledge of industry trends – the world of web development is always changing, and WordPress developers must stay up to date with how the industry is moving so they can anticipate factors that will impact their work

• Attention to detail – successful web development is all about the details, and WordPress developers know that attention to detail is critical to providing a high-quality product

• Communication skills – communication is key for programmers. They communicate not only with other programmers and creatives, but also with the organization or firm’s team and with clients

  Tools of The Trade

The WordPress developer needs to be comfortable using the following computer tools and technologies:

• Front-end technologies (such as HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and jQuery)

• Back-end technologies (such as PHP)

• Debugging tools (such as Chrome Inspector and Firebug)

• Website creation tools (WordPress)

WordPress Developer Education and Training WordPress developers should have  at least an associate’s degree.

A background in WordPress and relevant work experience are necessary. Minimum 2 or 3 years experience.
