| Job Description: |
- Building or overseeing the development of prototypes and computer-aided design models before going into production.
- Preparing or directing the preparation of blueprints containing manufacturing specifications, such as dimensions, wood type, and upholstery fabrics to be used in manufacturing an article.
- Conferring with production, design, and sales personnel to obtain design suggestions and customer orders.
- Obtaining approval from the customer, design committee, or authorised company officials.
- Attending the staff conference with plant personnel to explain and resolve production requirements.
- Develop original furniture designs from concept through to final product.
- Create detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and prototypes using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Rhino, SketchUp).
- Select appropriate materials, finishes, and construction methods.
- Collaborate with product developers, engineers, and manufacturers to ensure the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of designs.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and sustainability practices.
- Revise and refine designs based on feedback, testing, and production limitations.
- Prepare presentation materials for internal teams and clients, including mood boards, renderings, and product specifications.
- Ensure that designs comply with safety, durability, and ergonomic standards.
